    About Kemba Mason

    MY BACKGROUND:

Growing up in an alcoholic family system, I never had the opportunity of witnessing what a healthy marriage consists of. As a child I learned to accommodate and enable chaotic, unstable/unpredictable and unhealthy behaviors of my parents. My belief of their dysfunctional marriage was interpreted as being normal.  As an adult, I carried some of these behaviors and traits into my own marriage.  I had to look at the ways I learned to adapt as a child and the ways that those adaptations followed me into adulthood. This work is very personal to me!

WHY I DO WHAT I DO:

As a couple/marriage therapist, I have the honor of helping couples heal from their traumatic experiences. I specialize in affair recovery, intimate partner betrayal, and relationship repair.

Having a healthy marriage is the foundation of creating a healthy family dynamic. We are the relational examples for our children. They can then grow up and create their own healthy relationships. This is how we can impact the world! That is a domino effect that I want to be part of!

    MY GOAL:

Help couples find strength to endure the pain, learn to acknowledge losses, wrestle through forgiveness, and finally build hedges around their renewed relationship.

    HOW I WORK:

My approach is well suited for those that are either in a committed relationship, engaged, or married.  My goal is to help you heal rather than teaching you skills. I am trained in the areas of attachment-based, experiential, and relational approaches.

    CREDENTIALS:

I am Licensed Professional Counselor Associate in the state of North Carolina and a National Certified Counselor. I hold a BA in Psychology from North Carolina Wesleyan University, and a MA in Professional Counseling from Liberty University. I am trained to work with couples using the Gottman Method, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT).
